The Qatar Diamond Exchange has formalized a strategic partnership with the Diamond Federation of Hong Kong, China (DFHK) through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in Hong Kong. The agreement was signed by Ghanim Al-Saadi, Director of the Qatar Diamond Exchange, and Lawrence Ma, President of the DFHK.
The MoU aims to enhance commercial ties between the two organizations by connecting their respective memberships and facilitating trade opportunities. Both parties will promote interaction through industry events, tenders, auctions, and viewings, with a planned schedule of visits between Doha and Hong Kong. The collaboration intends to foster mutual access to markets, leveraging Hong Kong’s established role as a key gateway for diamond trade in Asia and the Gulf region’s expanding market presence.
The Diamond Federation of Hong Kong, established in 2000, represents the city’s diamond industry and holds membership in the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB). It works alongside international gem and jewelry organizations to maintain industry standards and boost consumer confidence in natural diamonds. Similarly, the Qatar Diamond Exchange aligns its operations with key industry frameworks including the World Diamond Council’s System of Warranties and guidelines from the Responsible Jewellery Council.
Ghanim Al-Saadi highlighted the significance of Hong Kong’s pivotal position in the diamond industry and emphasized the partnership’s potential to bridge buyers in Asia with markets across the Gulf. Lawrence Ma stressed that the MoU offers a straightforward framework to exchange insights, share best practices, and open new channels for trade and collaboration, reinforcing Hong Kong’s standing as a trusted global diamond trading hub.
This agreement marks the Qatar Diamond Exchange’s fifth partnership with WFDB-affiliated bourses. Earlier in 2026, the Exchange signed similar MoUs with the Diamond Exchange of Singapore, the Shanghai Diamond Exchange, the Tokyo Diamond Exchange, and Borsa Diamanti d’Italia, thereby extending its network across Asia’s major trading centers and into Europe.
