Qatar Chamber hosted a delegation from Malaysia’s Malacca State on Wednesday to discuss enhancing trade and economic relations between the two countries. The Malaysian delegation was led by Dr. Hajj Mohamed bon Ali Mohamed Rustam, Governor of Malacca State. The meeting took place in the presence of Qatar Chamber Board Members Dr. Mohamed bin Jawhar Al Mohamed and Abdulrahman bin Abduljaleel Al Abdulghani, as well as the Malaysian Ambassador to Qatar, HE Mohamed Fazal Razali.
The discussions centered on opportunities to expand collaboration and investment between Qatari and Malaysian businesses across multiple sectors. Dr. Mohamed Rustam highlighted Malacca’s potential for investment in areas including tourism, halal industries, and healthcare. He invited Qatar Chamber and Qatari companies to participate in the upcoming MIHAS Halal Expo, scheduled for September 23 to 26, which is expected to feature leading Malaysian and international firms.
Dr. Mohamed bin Jawhar Al Mohamed emphasized Qatar Chamber’s commitment to fostering closer ties between Qatari and Malaysian investors. He pointed to the role of the Joint Business Council as an important mechanism for strengthening business relations between the two countries. Abdulrahman Al Abdulghani noted the historically close relationship between Qatar and Malaysia, underscoring the private sector’s pivotal role in expanding cooperative efforts. He identified the halal industry as a particularly promising area for bilateral collaboration, given its significant growth potential and diverse opportunities.
The meeting reflects ongoing efforts by both parties to deepen economic linkages and facilitate greater trade and investment flows. Both sides expressed optimism about building stronger partnerships and exploring new avenues for shared business development in the coming months.
