Qatar Insurance Company (QIC) has introduced a suite of new travel-related digital features on its QIC App aimed at enhancing convenience and flexibility for travelers to and from Qatar. The updates include several enhancements designed to streamline travel planning and insurance services through a unified mobile platform.

One key addition allows customers to convert their loyalty coins into Avios points directly via the QIC App. These points can then be redeemed for a variety of travel-related services such as flight bookings, travel class upgrades, and purchases at Qatar Duty Free. The redemption network extends to Qatar Airways and its partners, covering over 150 global destinations. Additionally, loyalty coins can be used to partially offset outbound travel insurance premiums, with customers able to combine coins and other electronic payment methods to tailor coverage to their needs.

Salem al-Mannai, CEO of QIC Group, emphasized that the recent digital upgrades reflect a broader strategy to move beyond traditional insurance products by integrating non-insurance digital services that enhance everyday life. "The enhancements that we are announcing today reflect this vision and our ongoing efforts to offer travellers a comprehensive set of services that help them travel better with our all-in-one digital ecosystem," al-Mannai said.

Alongside the points conversion feature, the QIC App now includes a “Hotels” function, which offers users access to hotel bookings in partnership with top-tier service providers and hospitality venues. This feature provides curated hotel options and competitive rates to simplify accommodations planning and reduce the need to use multiple platforms.

Another new tool, the “Calendar” feature, serves as a centralized events gateway for residents and visitors in Qatar. It allows users to browse and select from a variety of events throughout the year, facilitating more engaging and personalized travel experiences within Doha.

QIC has also partnered with telecommunications provider Ooredoo to provide complimentary eSIMs to travelers who purchase Mandatory Visitors’ Health Insurance through the QIC digital channels. Once the policy is purchased, customers receive an activation link to download and set up their eSIM before arriving in Qatar, enabling immediate connectivity and facilitating communication during their stay.

QIC offers various travel insurance options catering to international travelers. The “Worldwide Travel” package covers medical emergencies, flight delays, and loss of baggage or passports across numerous destinations, including the United States and Canada. For those travelling to Schengen countries, the “Fly Europe” package provides up to $50,000 in medical coverage, meeting visa insurance requirements. Visitors to Qatar can also access mandatory health insurance policies quickly via QIC’s digital platform, with premiums starting from QR50, ensuring financial protection against emergency medical costs.

Qatar Insurance continues to focus on expanding and refining its digital offerings to provide travelers and residents with efficient, integrated, and user-centric services. More information and access to the new features can be found through the QIC website and mobile app.
