Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) has joined Positron AI’s $875 million Series C funding round, which values the company at $5 billion, the sovereign wealth fund announced Thursday. The financing round was co-led by NEA, Atreides Management, Valor Equity Partners, Andra Capital, and Jim Clark, the founder of Silicon Graphics and Netscape, alongside other investors. This marks QIA’s second investment in Positron AI, having also participated in the company’s Series B round in February 2026.
Positron AI specializes in developing hardware and software solutions aimed at improving the efficiency of AI inference, the computational process of running pretrained artificial intelligence models. As the use of AI applications such as agents, virtual assistants, and copilots expands rapidly, the demand for inference infrastructure has intensified, creating challenges related to memory capacity, bandwidth, and power consumption.
The company’s technology is built around a memory-first architecture intended to mitigate these limitations by reducing dependence on scarce High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) and complex Chip-on-Wafer-on-Substrate supply chains. Positron’s design also supports deployment flexibility, enabling operation in both air-cooled and liquid-cooled data center environments.
Proceeds from the Series C round will be allocated toward advancing Positron’s next-generation products, including the tapeout—a key milestone in semiconductor manufacturing—for Asimov, the company’s upcoming silicon chip. Additionally, the funds will support scaling production of Titan, Positron’s multi-terabyte-memory inference system designed to meet growing performance and efficiency demands in AI workloads.
