Qatar participated in a meeting of the Arab Ministerial Committee held on Wednesday in Amman, Jordan, focused on responding to Israeli policies and measures in occupied Jerusalem. The committee, charged with mobilizing international action, discussed recent developments and the escalation of tensions in the city, particularly concerning its Islamic and Christian holy sites. The gathering included representatives from various Arab countries, the Secretary-General of the Arab League, and foreign ministers from Pakistan, Turkiye, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

The Qatari delegation was led by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani. Alongside Arab League members such as Jordan, Tunisia, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Iraq, Palestine, Egypt, and Morocco, the group addressed what they described as illegal Israeli measures in Jerusalem, expressing concerns about their potential to exacerbate regional conflict.

Following the ministerial meeting, Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani also took part in a session with Jordan’s King Abdullah II. The discussions centered on safeguarding Jerusalem’s religious identity and coordinating Arab efforts to address Israeli actions perceived as escalatory.

On the sidelines of the event, the Qatari Prime Minister met with Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Badr Abdelatty to discuss bilateral relations and regional cooperation. Both officials emphasized the importance of united Arab efforts in confronting the issues surrounding Jerusalem. They also highlighted diplomatic approaches aimed at reducing regional tensions and enhancing security and stability.

In addition to addressing regional concerns, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani reiterated Qatar’s support for dialogue and diplomacy, referencing commitments under the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran. He stressed the significance of maintaining freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, preserving regional security, and advancing sustainable peace.

The meeting underscored the collective call by Arab states for international engagement to counter Israeli policies in occupied Jerusalem, reflecting ongoing efforts to address the complex and sensitive status of the city amid broader Middle East tensions.
