Qatar Media Corporation (QMC) has renewed its membership on the Executive Council of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) States Broadcasting Union (OSBU) for the 2026-2027 session, reaffirming its role in fostering media collaboration among member states. The announcement came during the 11th Executive Council meeting and the OSBU General Assembly, which were conducted virtually with participation from representatives of various member countries.

Representing QMC at the meetings were Abdullah Ghanem Al Muhannadi, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Agreements, Sheikh Fahad Mohammed Al Thani, and Abdullah Saeed Al Nabit, also from the Office of International Cooperation and Agreements. The sessions focused on strengthening media cooperation across OIC member states, supporting the OSBU’s strategic direction, and advancing its media initiatives and programmes.

A key outcome of the meetings was the approval for Qatar, through its national media corporation, to host the OSBU’s second media forum. The event is scheduled to be held in Doha in March 2027. Additionally, Qatar will organise the seventh meeting of Quran radio directors, further underscoring its commitment to Islamic media collaboration.

QMC highlighted that hosting these events is part of Qatar’s broader dedication to enhancing media partnerships within the OIC framework. The corporation emphasized the importance of sharing expertise and experiences in radio and television sectors to advance joint initiatives aimed at developing Islamic media. Qatar’s efforts also seek to strengthen the regional and international presence of OIC media institutions.

The renewed membership and hosting responsibilities signal Qatar’s continued engagement in fostering media cooperation and advancing joint media action among the OIC member states.
