Qatar Museums (QM) has announced the opening of applications for “Conventions 101,” a series of workshops focused on UNESCO’s cultural conventions and their importance in preserving heritage for future generations. Scheduled for October 2026, the workshops are designed to engage university students and young professionals with an interest in culture and heritage.

Organized under the Doha Empower Programme, the workshop series will feature three interactive sessions examining key aspects of cultural heritage, including the protection of cultural property, world heritage, and intangible cultural heritage. Participants will engage in practical exercises, debates, simulations, and group activities to deepen their understanding of these topics.

The programme is a collaboration between QM’s International Cooperation and Government Affairs Department, the Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, and the UNESCO Regional Office for the Gulf States and Yemen. The sessions will take place on October 13, 14, and 29, running from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Qatar residents can apply for a limited number of in-person seats, while applicants from the broader Arab region have the option to join via livestream.

Applications are open until September 10 and must be submitted through an official form linked in the announcement on Qatar Museums’ LinkedIn page. Selected participants from both Qatar and the wider Arab world will be invited to contribute to the Youth Empowerment Forum 2027 in Doha, providing an opportunity to engage with cultural heritage issues on a regional platform.
