Qatar has firmly denied allegations from some Israeli politicians and affiliated media claiming the country interfered in Israel’s recent parliamentary elections. The accusations, primarily advanced by supporters of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu—who has struggled to secure a governing majority—allege that Qatar funded Arab political parties to influence election outcomes, charges that Doha calls unfounded and politically motivated.

Responding on social media platform X, HE Dr. Majed al-Ansari, Adviser to the Qatari Prime Minister and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, described the claims as “baseless” and part of a “disinformation campaign” aimed at dragging Qatar into internal Israeli political disputes. He pointed to the inconsistency of the accusations, which range from allegations of Qatar attempting to buy Netanyahu’s loyalty to claims of backing Israeli left-wing factions and manipulating Arab voter turnout. Al-Ansari characterized these narratives as an “excessive obsession” that lacks logical basis.

He emphasized that Qatar should not be used as a scapegoat for the political difficulties facing certain Israeli leaders. Instead, al-Ansari suggested Israeli politicians focus on addressing the concerns of their constituents and the consequences of their policies in the region. Qatar maintains that it respects Israel’s political sovereignty and does not interfere in its internal affairs.

While rejecting the interference allegations, Qatar reiterated its position that any government formed following the elections must commit to abiding by international law and resolutions, and engage seriously with the Palestinian issue. Doha reaffirmed support for the Palestinian right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Qatar stressed that it would continue its diplomatic and humanitarian efforts in the region, including its role as a mediator in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Doha played a significant role in ceasefire negotiations during the recent Gaza war and is also actively involved in mediation between Washington and Tehran, seeking to end the broader Middle East conflict that escalated following hostilities initiated by Israel and the United States in February.

The Qatari government asserted its commitment to pursuing a just and comprehensive peace that fosters regional security and stability, emphasizing cooperation with international and regional partners to resolve conflicts through diplomatic channels. It warned that Qatar would not remain silent when its name is exploited for narrow political gains in foreign electoral debates.
