The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) hosted an official reception on Monday during the 20th Asian Games, held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, bringing together approximately 100 guests from across the Asian Olympic movement. The event, held at the QOC delegation headquarters within the TIAD Hotel in Nagoya, aimed to celebrate sport, culture, and hospitality while highlighting Qatar’s preparations to host the Asian Games in Doha in 2030.

The reception was conducted under the patronage of H.E. Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, a member of the QOC Board of Directors, and featured the attendance of H.E. Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). In her remarks, Sheikha Hind emphasized Qatar’s hosting experience and the unifying values of hospitality and community fostered through sport.

A short film screened during the reception traced Qatar’s journey from hosting the Asian Games in Doha in 2006 to the current edition in Aichi-Nagoya and the upcoming Games scheduled for Doha in 2030. The presentation underscored the central role of athletes, spectators, and the broader sporting community in Qatar’s hosting narrative.

The evening included a showcase of Qatari culture and cuisine, featuring a menu crafted by Noof Al Marri, a prominent Qatari chef and cultural ambassador. Guests were served traditional Qatari dishes that highlighted both the nation’s culinary heritage and its modern gastronomic trends. The program was further enriched by a live Oud performance, providing an additional element of Qatar’s musical tradition.

Prior to the dinner, attendees visited Bayt Qatar—the House of Qatar in Nagoya—where they experienced interactive cultural and digital displays and explored Qatar’s sporting development from the 2006 Games through to its preparations for 2030.

H.E. Jassim bin Rashid Al-Buenain, Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee, described the reception as an opportunity to strengthen ties within the Asian Olympic community and reflect on Qatar’s evolving role in the Asian Games. He noted that the event served as a platform to share Qatar’s culture and hospitality with partners and highlighted the anticipation surrounding Doha’s hosting of the 2030 Games.

Sheikha Asma Al Thani, QOC’s Director of Marketing and International Cooperation, reiterated the significance of the Asian Games in Qatar’s sporting history. She emphasized that Bayt Qatar was designed not only to educate visitors about the country but also to foster cultural exchange and build connections within the Asian sporting family. She noted that Bayt Qatar remains open throughout the Games for the public and local communities to engage directly with Qatari culture and the ongoing journey toward Doha 2030.

Qatar’s involvement in the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games reflects its sustained commitment to the event following its successful hosting in 2006. The country has since expanded its sporting infrastructure and established itself as a key player in major international sports events. As it prepares for the 2030 Asian Games, Qatar continues to engage with athletes, officials, and stakeholders to deepen cooperation within the region’s sporting community and promote its cultural heritage.
