The State of Qatar took part in the 29th meeting of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) ministers responsible for municipal affairs, held on Thursday in Bahrain. The Qatari delegation was led by HE Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiya, the Minister of Municipality.
The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation, coordination, and the sharing of expertise among GCC countries in the municipal sector. Discussions aimed to support the development of municipal services and improve the overall quality of life across the member states.
During the event, the Ministry of Municipality of Qatar was recognized as part of the GCC Municipal Work Award. The ministry secured two of the five awards presented, receiving honors for “Best Practices in Sustainable Urban Landscaping,” submitted by the Public Parks Department, and for the “Al Wakrah Sustainable Community Park,” submitted by Al Wakrah Municipality.
These accolades underscore Qatar’s ongoing efforts to advance municipal systems through sustainability and community-focused urban development. The awards highlight the ministry’s initiatives to implement exemplary practices and improve public services reflecting broader regional objectives for sustainable growth and enhanced municipal management.
