Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, held a series of telephone discussions on June 23 with key foreign ministers and security officials from the Gulf region and beyond to address regional security and bilateral relations.

Among those engaged in the talks were Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Adviser of the United Arab Emirates; Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah Al Saud, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs; and Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah, Kuwait’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. In addition, Sheikh Mohammed spoke with Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, as well as Hakan Fidan, Turkey’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The discussions focused on enhancing the existing cooperation between Qatar and these countries, along with an assessment of recent regional developments. A prominent topic was the evolving diplomatic landscape following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran.

Sheikh Mohammed underscored Qatar’s commitment to supporting ongoing negotiations between Washington and Tehran aimed at resolving longstanding issues through dialogue and peaceful means. He emphasized the necessity for these efforts to promote regional security and to open avenues for greater cooperation, development, and prosperity across the Middle East.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of achieving outcomes that serve the common interests of the peoples in the region and beyond. The conversations reflect Qatar’s broader diplomatic approach of fostering dialogue and stability amid complex geopolitical dynamics affecting the Gulf and the wider Middle East.
