The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has launched its annual Warm Winter Campaign for 2026–2027, aiming to provide winter relief to more than 57,000 vulnerable individuals across several countries. Operating under the theme “Warmth and Serenity,” the three-month initiative will distribute essential supplies such as winter clothing, mattresses, blankets, heaters, heating oil, and tarpaulins to populations facing harsh winter conditions amid ongoing displacement crises.
The campaign targets a range of locations including Palestine (both Gaza and the West Bank), Yemen, Syria, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Lebanon, and Jordan. QRCS plans to implement the aid projects through its foreign representation offices and missions, collaborating closely with local National Societies and relevant authorities in each host country.
Abdullah Sultan Al-Qattan, acting secretary-general of QRCS, emphasized the critical need for support, urging donors to consider the plight of displaced families enduring winter without shelter or adequate clothing. He contrasted these dire circumstances with the relief provided through charitable contributions such as Zakat and Sadaqah, which can substantially improve living conditions for those affected.
Al-Qattan highlighted Qatar’s longstanding commitment to humanitarian aid, noting that since its inception two decades ago, the Warm Winter Campaign has been both well-received and efficiently executed. “Today, a new chapter of our humanitarian mission is beginning,” he said, calling on the broader community to help underprivileged families survive the winter months with dignity and relief.
Mohamed Bader Al-Sada, assistant secretary-general for relief and international development at QRCS, expressed gratitude to the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities (RACA) for supporting the campaign. He explained that the selection of countries was based on prioritizing regions where severe winter weather intersects with displacement crises to maximize the effectiveness and timeliness of aid delivery.
Al-Sada expressed confidence that both individual and institutional donors would participate in the campaign, recognizing the importance of relief supplies in reducing winter hardship for thousands around the world. Donations can be made through multiple channels, including the QRCS website, mobile app, donor service hotline, home donation collection hotline, or bank transfer.
The QRCS Warm Winter Campaign reflects a concerted effort to address the urgent needs of displaced and vulnerable populations during winter, reinforcing humanitarian principles of solidarity and compassion.
