A team from Qatar’s International Search and Rescue Group, affiliated with the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), has arrived in Venezuela to support relief efforts following two recent earthquakes that struck the capital, Caracas. The contingent, composed of certified Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) specialists, is equipped with advanced machinery and technical tools designed to locate and extract victims trapped beneath collapsed structures.
In addition to rescue operations, the Qatari team includes specialized medical personnel operating fully equipped field hospitals to provide urgent care to those injured in the earthquakes. The deployment forms part of a broader humanitarian assistance mission coordinated by Qatar to aid Venezuela in the aftermath of the disaster.
Parallel to the on-the-ground rescue efforts, humanitarian supplies have been delivered to Venezuela through an air bridge established by the State of Qatar. These shipments, organized by the Qatar Fund for Development, encompass food, medicines, medical consumables, and shelter materials essential for emergency relief.
The swift response underscores Qatar’s commitment to extending humanitarian support to allied countries facing natural disasters. By mobilizing technical rescue teams and providing vital relief resources, Qatar aims to contribute to international efforts facilitating a rapid and effective response to the crisis in Venezuela.
