Qatar is set to bolster its artificial intelligence (AI) sector with a $5 million investment in ALPHA10X, a predictive AI company focused on improving investment decisions in private markets. GrowthX Capital, led by Qatari investor Hamad Mubarak al-Hajri, is spearheading the Pre-Series A funding round as ALPHA10X relocates its global headquarters from France to Doha, aiming to strengthen its regional presence and expand its workforce.

The investment was announced at a ceremony hosted by Qatar Chamber, underscoring the country’s ambition to develop a knowledge-based and innovation-driven economy in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. ALPHA10X’s founder and group CEO Robert Marcus detailed plans to hire at least 50 senior employees locally by the end of 2024, reflecting a significant commitment to establishing a substantial operational base in Qatar.

ALPHA10X develops advanced Decision Intelligence technology designed to assist investors in private equity, venture capital, and investment banking by assessing opportunities, evaluating risks, and enhancing the consistency of investment decisions. Marcus emphasized that despite advancements in technology, inefficiencies persist in private market investment processes, presenting an opportunity for AI-driven improvements.

The company’s proprietary system, ALPHACodex, integrates investment evidence, predictive models, and institutional decision-making rules to increase transparency and measurable reasoning behind investment choices, while ultimately leaving final authority to investors. Marcus highlighted potential applications for the platform across Qatar and the broader Middle East, where private markets play a significant role in investment landscapes.

GrowthX Capital’s collaboration with ALPHA10X aims to connect domestic capital with international expertise, promoting the growth of competitive technology companies from Qatar. Al-Hajri described the investment as part of a broader strategy to shift the nation’s economy away from traditional sectors toward innovation and knowledge-based industries. He expressed confidence in ALPHA10X’s long-term prospects, including the potential to reach unicorn status with a valuation exceeding $1 billion.

Since its inception, ALPHA10X has raised $20 million in seed funding and, in partnership with global strategy consulting firm Kearney, has completed over 100 projects in 11 countries. The new funding will primarily support further product development and enhance the platform’s predictive capabilities, with plans to more closely integrate investment insights with transaction execution and capital deployment.

Qatar Chamber acting general manager Ali Bousherbak al-Mansouri emphasized the importance of such agreements in fostering cooperation between Qatari and international companies. He noted the growing impact of AI and data analytics on business transformation, highlighting their role in supporting startups and creating new avenues for investment and collaboration.
