The Qatar Social and Cultural Centre for the Blind (QSCCB) took part in a regional workshop focused on the rights of persons with disabilities and the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) across Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states. The event was held at the GCC General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh.

The workshop convened representatives from government bodies, civil society organizations, and individuals with disabilities from various GCC countries. Participants convened to examine the progress and challenges related to the third report on the implementation and monitoring of the CRPD within the region.

Faisal al-Kooheji, chairman of QSCCB, underscored the significance of including persons with disabilities and their advocacy groups in the ongoing dialogue surrounding the convention’s enforcement and monitoring. The workshop aimed to promote cooperation and share best practices to advance the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities in the Gulf states.
