Qatar’s Minister of Sports and Youth, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed al-Thani, paid a visit to Canadian midfielder Ismael Kone following an injury sustained during the Group B match between Qatar and Canada at the FIFA World Cup. The injury occurred early in the second half during a collision involving Qatar international Assim Madibo.
Sheikh Hamad extended his wishes for Kone’s speedy recovery and hoped for his prompt return to play. The visit, seen as a gesture of goodwill, was attended by Madibo as well, who was directly involved in the incident.
Canadian Soccer Association President Peter Augruso received the visitors and praised the minister’s outreach as a demonstration of high-level sportsmanship. Observers noted that the meeting underscored positive relations between the teams and provided moral support to the injured player, reflecting the spirit of camaraderie often emphasized in international sporting events.
