Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, engaged in a series of high-level telephone discussions on Sunday with senior officials from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Türkiye. The talks focused on bilateral relations, regional developments, and ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and promoting stability in the Middle East.
In conversations with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, HH Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah Al Saud, Sheikh Mohammed reviewed the state of Qatar-Saudi relations and explored avenues to enhance cooperation between the two countries. Both officials emphasized the importance of continued diplomatic engagement, including adherence to the terms of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the United States and Iran, as a foundation to de-escalate regional conflicts. They underscored the need to ensure freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, protect regional security, and maintain progress achieved through diplomatic channels.
Sheikh Mohammed also spoke with HH Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Adviser of the UAE. The two leaders discussed ways to strengthen bilateral ties and increase collaboration across various sectors. They likewise shared concerns about regional tensions and reiterated a mutual commitment to dialogue and diplomacy. Both highlighted the significance of upholding commitments under the US-Iran MoU and safeguarding security in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
In a separate call with Turkish Foreign Minister HE Hakan Fidan, Sheikh Mohammed explored prospects for enhancing cooperation between Qatar and Türkiye. The discussions covered current regional issues, with a focus on diplomatic initiatives designed to contain conflicts and boost stability. Sheikh Mohammed stressed the critical importance of continued dialogue and fulfilling existing agreements, while reaffirming Qatar’s support for efforts to reduce tensions in the region. He reiterated that ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz remains a key priority for maintaining regional peace and security.
Across all conversations, Sheikh Mohammed emphasized Qatar’s commitment to diplomacy as the principal means to achieve lasting peace and security. The talks showcased Doha’s ongoing engagement with regional partners to promote de-escalation and foster cooperative dynamics amid complex geopolitical challenges in the Middle East.
