Qatar took part in the first extraordinary meeting of the Committee of Undersecretaries of Ministries of Social Affairs and Development for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, held on June 8, 2026, via video conference. The session was attended by HE Khalifa bin Issa al-Kubaisi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development and Family, representing Qatar.

The meeting focused primarily on advancing the "Unified Package of Benefits for Persons with Disabilities in the GCC Countries" and establishing mechanisms for its implementation. This initiative aligns with resolutions adopted during the 11th meeting of the Committee of Ministers of Social Affairs and Development, which took place in Kuwait in September.

Officials addressed various aspects related to social development, with an emphasis on enhancing support and services for persons with disabilities across the GCC member states. The discussions aimed to promote a cohesive regional framework to ensure uniform benefits and facilitate cooperation among countries.

As part of its ongoing efforts to foster social development, the GCC continues to prioritize initiatives that encourage inclusivity and equal opportunities for vulnerable populations within the Gulf region.
