Qatar participated in a high-level ministerial event focused on advancing women's leadership in peace and security, held on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The event, titled “Shaping the Next 25 Years: Advancing Women’s Leadership in Peace and Security,” brought together representatives from various countries and organizations to discuss strategies for enhancing women's roles in conflict prevention and resolution.

Sheikha Hanouf bint Abdulrahman al-Thani, director of the International Organisations Department at Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented Qatar at the gathering. In her remarks, she underscored the critical importance of women’s participation in mediation and decision-making processes related to conflict management and sustainable peacebuilding. She emphasized that effective inclusion of women is essential for the success of peace and security efforts worldwide.

Sheikha Hanouf also reaffirmed Qatar’s continued support for the Women, Peace, and Security agenda, highlighting the country's involvement with the Network of Women Mediators for Peace in the Arab Region. She noted that Qatar remains committed to expanding and strengthening the role women play in international peace initiatives.
