The State of Qatar is participating in the World Summit on Investing in Children’s Well-being, which began yesterday in the Republic of Azerbaijan and will continue over two days. The summit, held under the theme “Investing in Children’s Well-being: A Path Towards Sustainable and Equitable Development for Future Generations,” brings together high-level representatives from various governments, international organizations, and institutions focused on childhood and social development.
Qatar’s delegation is led by HE the Minister of Social Development and Family, Buthaina bint Ali al-Jabr al-Nuaimi, along with other senior officials. The country’s involvement reflects its commitment to enhancing international cooperation, sharing expertise on child protection and care, and supporting the development of social policies and programs that promote child well-being. These efforts aim to ensure equitable access to care, education, health services, and social protection for children, thereby improving their quality of life within a secure and stable environment.
Discussions at the summit cover critical issues such as strengthening child-sensitive social protection systems, advancing early childhood development, and formulating policies and financing mechanisms to support social care services. Participants are also exploring ways to foster international partnerships and expand initiatives targeted at the most vulnerable child populations. The summit highlights the significance of investing in early childhood as a foundational element of sustainable human development, advocating support for early education programs, enhanced health and social care services, and robust child protection frameworks.
The event includes panel discussions and high-level deliberations that examine international experiences and best practices in social investment focused on children. It also addresses mechanisms to improve integration among government sectors, international organizations, and civil society, and reviews innovative initiatives aimed at enhancing service quality for children and their families.
Alongside this summit, the Second International Conference on Childhood Cancer is taking place, aiming to bolster global cooperation in combating childhood cancer.
During the summit, Minister al-Nuaimi met with Mansurbek Olloyorov, Adviser to the President of Uzbekistan and Director of the National Agency for Social Protection (NASP). The two officials discussed cooperation in social action and family affairs, exchanging views on potential avenues to strengthen bilateral collaboration in these areas.
Qatar’s participation aligns with its commitments under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the objectives of its Third National Development Strategy 2024-2030, and the Qatar National Vision 2030, which prioritizes human and social development.
