Qatar Tamizhar Sangam (QTS), a socio-cultural organisation affiliated with the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) under the Embassy of India in Qatar, organised a free medical camp on October 9 in collaboration with Aster Medical Centre, C Ring Road. The event aimed to enhance community health by providing accessible healthcare services, particularly focusing on low-income workers within the Indian expatriate community.
The camp offered a broad spectrum of medical services at no cost, including laboratory tests, vision screenings, gynaecology and dental consultations, general medical check-ups, and breast cancer awareness sessions tailored for women. Over 200 individuals utilised the available services during the event.
Representatives from various community organisations and the Indian Embassy attended the camp. Satyam Sharma from the embassy’s Labour and Community Welfare Department was present, alongside ICC vice-president Shantanu Deshpande, Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF) president Shanavas Bava, ICC Advisory Council chairman Baburajan, ICBF Advisory Council chairman K S Prasad, Outreach Qatar president Krishna Kumar, and community leader Mahesh Gowda.
QTS expressed gratitude to the management of Aster Medical Centre, represented by Fazil Sulaiman, for their ongoing support and guidance in facilitating the camp. Appreciation was also extended to the doctors, nurses, coordinators, volunteers, and organisers whose combined efforts ensured the successful operation of the initiative. Volunteers received certificates of appreciation in recognition of their contributions.
During the event, QTS president Muniyappan emphasised the organisation’s dedication to continuing community-focused and charitable activities aimed at improving the welfare of the Indian community in Qatar. The programme concluded with the distribution of food to all attendees.
