Qatar Tec and Rocka Power Gym have joined the Purple Saturday initiative, a nationwide campaign in Qatar aimed at promoting the rights, accessibility, and inclusion of persons with disabilities. Both organizations demonstrated their support for the movement, which is led by the Ministry of Family and Social Development, as part of a broader effort to foster a more accessible and inclusive society.
Qatar Tec, a manpower and project supplies company based in Doha, emphasized its commitment to corporate social responsibility and the importance of extending support to individuals with disabilities. Speaking at the event, Jeby K. John, managing director of Qatar Tec, framed the company’s involvement as both a moral duty and an expression of their core values. He highlighted the company’s history of supporting humanitarian initiatives domestically and abroad, particularly in Qatar and India. A delegation of senior Qatar Tec officials also attended the event, reaffirming the organization’s dedication to promoting accessibility, equality, and dignity for persons with disabilities.
Purple Saturday has gained significant traction as a national initiative that encourages government agencies, private businesses, and community organizations to enhance accessibility in workplaces, services, and public spaces. The campaign aims to raise awareness of inclusion and push for the removal of barriers that limit the participation of persons with disabilities.
Mini Benny, Advisory Board chairperson of UNIQ, attended the event as chief guest, commending Qatar Tec’s commitment to the cause. She praised their efforts and underscored the importance of collaborative engagement to achieve the campaign’s goals.
In addition to Qatar Tec, Rocka Power Gym, a leading fitness center in Qatar, announced its participation in the initiative by introducing special privileges for persons with disabilities to promote equal access to health and wellness activities. Muhammed Noushad Aboo, managing director of Rocka Power Gym, described the campaign as a movement that calls on organizations to take responsibility for fostering inclusion. He stressed the importance of providing an accessible environment where health and fitness services can be enjoyed by all individuals, regardless of their physical abilities.
To mark Purple Saturday, Rocka Power Gym organized a special awareness procession inside its facility, featuring staff members carrying signs advocating for inclusion, equality, and solidarity with persons with disabilities. The event saw participation from various members of the gym’s management and coaching team, who collectively reiterated their commitment to supporting the campaign’s objectives.
Both Qatar Tec and Rocka Power Gym’s involvement in Purple Saturday reflects a growing recognition within Qatar’s corporate sector of the need to ensure no one is excluded from opportunities and services. The initiative is part of ongoing national efforts to build a society where compassion, dignity, and equal opportunity are prioritized for all citizens.
