Qatar Tourism (QT), in collaboration with Qatar Youth Hostels and Qatar Museums (QM), has opened registration for its latest Tour Guide Training Programme Series aimed at developing local talent and enhancing visitor experiences across the country. The initiative, launched through QT’s Service Excellence Academy, seeks to cultivate tourism ambassadors who can share Qatar’s cultural and historical narratives with international and domestic visitors.
The training series, aligned with the Human Development pillar of Qatar National Vision 2030, offers a comprehensive development pathway that addresses various age groups and skill levels. It ranges from introductory programmes designed for children and youth to professional licensing courses and advanced mentorship opportunities for experienced guides.
The General Licensing Module will run from July 5 to August 2 and is open to citizens and residents aged 18 and above. This edition notably encourages participation from retirees and senior community members, recognizing their valuable knowledge and experience in Qatar’s cultural landscape. Participants who complete the course will earn official tour guide licences issued by QT’s Licensing Department.
For younger demographics, the Youth Tour Guide Training Programme will commence on July 18 and is targeted at participants between 13 and 17 years old. This programme is coordinated with QM’s Teen Centre and delivered by graduates of QT’s Train the Trainer initiative, which aims to equip trainers with the necessary skills to mentor future guides.
Additionally, the Young Tour Guide Summer Camp 2026 will take place concurrently from July 19 to August 27 at KidzMondo. Designed for children aged 8 to 12, the camp will involve interactive activities led by licensed tour guides to foster early awareness and appreciation of Qatar’s tourism offerings.
The Train the Trainer – Guiding the Next Generation programme, which began on June 14 and runs through July 1, supports these initiatives by preparing a select group of trainers to provide structured guidance and mentoring. This effort ensures the sustainability and effectiveness of the overarching training series.
This programme marks the fourth consecutive collaboration between QT and Qatar Youth Hostels, continuing their joint commitment to strengthening Qatar’s tourism talent pipeline. By investing in skill development across generations, the initiative aims to contribute to the tourism sector's long-term growth and Qatar's position as a destination rich in culture and heritage.
Interested individuals can register for the Tour Guide Training Programme, Youth Tour Guide Programme, and Young Tour Guide Summer Camp through the official Qatar Tourism platforms, where further details and application links are available.
