A delegation from Kuwait’s Ministry of Higher Education visited Qatar University (QU) on June 15, 2026, to discuss opportunities for expanding academic cooperation and strategic partnerships between the two institutions. The visit aimed to strengthen collaboration in higher education and scientific research.

The Kuwaiti delegation was led by Dr. Bader Hasan al-Busairi, Undersecretary of Higher Education. During the meeting, Dr. Omar Mohamed al-Ansari, president of Qatar University, and accompanying officials exchanged views on enhancing academic exchange programs and supporting Kuwaiti students currently enrolled at QU, particularly those studying medicine, health sciences, and engineering.

Both parties explored expanding cooperation in research, innovation, and the sharing of academic expertise. The discussions emphasized fostering institutional partnerships between higher education bodies in Kuwait and Qatar, as well as mobilizing national competencies to contribute to sustainable development goals.

Dr. al-Ansari highlighted Qatar University’s commitment to advancing academic and research collaboration within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. He described such partnerships as essential to QU’s pursuit of excellence and expressed a strong interest in further developing mutually beneficial initiatives that enhance higher education, scientific inquiry, and knowledge exchange.

Dr. al-Busairi emphasized Kuwait’s dedication to strengthening ties with leading regional academic institutions while also ensuring the well-being and academic progress of Kuwaiti students studying abroad. He noted the ministry’s ongoing efforts to provide the necessary support to optimize students’ educational experiences.

This meeting aligns with Qatar University’s broader Strategy 2023-27, which seeks to elevate education and research standards and contribute to society in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. These efforts particularly focus on human and socio-economic development as key pillars supporting national progress.
