Qatar University (QU) will host the Joud Charity Festival from September 6 to 10 on its campus, aligning with the International Day of Charity. The event aims to promote a culture of giving while raising funds for the Joud Student Support Fund, which assists students facing financial challenges.

The fund, officially licensed by the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities in November 2023, provides financial aid to eligible students, including support for tuition, housing fees, and laptop loans. It relies on donations and grants from both institutions and individuals to sustain its operations. Through the fund, the university seeks to enhance student support services and ensure continuous funding for educational initiatives.

Khulood al-Otaibi, director of QU’s Student Services Department, described the Joud Festival as a reflection of the university’s commitment to inclusive education. She emphasized that the event contributes to fostering community solidarity and removing financial barriers to academic achievement. “The festival affirms that financial circumstances should not hinder students’ academic aspirations and excellence,” she said.

The festival also showcases student-led projects selected through specific criteria, allowing project owners to present their initiatives and products to the campus community. Visitors will have opportunities to engage with interactive activities designed to encourage contributions to the support fund.

This initiative forms part of Qatar University’s broader strategy to support student-driven projects and promote sustainable community development within the university environment.
