Qatar recorded a total of 2.338 million visitors through its land, air, and sea ports in the first eight months of 2026, according to data released by Qatar Tourism on Wednesday. This figure underscores sustained growth and robust demand from both regional and international markets.

In August alone, visitor numbers reached 303,000, representing a 6.3% increase compared to the 285,000 travelers recorded in July. The cumulative data from January to August indicate a diverse geographic distribution of tourists.

Visitors from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries constituted the largest share, accounting for 41% of total arrivals, or approximately 958,000 tourists. This was followed by arrivals from Asia and Oceania, which made up 20.9% of the total, equating to about 489,000 visitors. Europe closely trailed with 20.8%, or roughly 486,000 individuals entering Qatar during the period.

The Americas contributed 7.2% of visitors, amounting to around 169,000 arrivals. Other Arab countries accounted for 6.9%, with approximately 162,000 incoming travelers. Visitors from African countries represented 3.1%, totaling about 73,000.

These figures reflect Qatar’s ongoing appeal as a travel destination and highlight the country’s strategic position as a hub connecting multiple regions. The growth in visitor traffic supports efforts to expand the tourism sector and diversify the economy beyond hydrocarbons.
