A Qatari Armed Forces aircraft arrived in Nepal on Monday, delivering urgent humanitarian aid to support people affected by recent floods. The assistance, provided by the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), aims to benefit approximately 52,000 individuals impacted by the disaster.
The aid package includes water extraction and pumping equipment, lighting devices, food supplies, and multipurpose tents. These resources are intended to address critical needs among families and children, particularly in areas where access to clean water and essential services has been disrupted.
In addition to delivering supplies, the Qatari International Search and Rescue Group, affiliated with the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), is actively involved in distributing aid and assisting relief efforts on the ground. This deployment reflects Qatar’s established policy of supporting countries and communities affected by natural disasters and humanitarian crises through international cooperation.
HE Dr Maryam bint Ali Al Misnad, Qatar’s Minister of State for International Cooperation, conveyed condolences to Nepal’s population during a phone call with Nepalese Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal. She expressed sympathy for the families of those who lost their lives in the floods and extended wishes for a swift recovery to those injured. Dr al-Misnad emphasized that the delivery of humanitarian aid is part of Qatar’s ongoing commitment to international solidarity and humanitarian response operations.
Furthermore, Dr al-Misnad reaffirmed Qatar’s readiness to continue coordinating with Nepal regarding its priority humanitarian needs as the country manages the aftermath of the floods. The assistance underscores Qatar’s broader approach, which includes not only immediate emergency response but also efforts to strengthen community resilience and capacity to recover from crises.
