Qatari artist Salem al-Mansouri was recognized for his contributions to theatre during the SITFY Hungary International Theatre Festival, held from June 7 to 13 in Hungary. The honour was presented in acknowledgment of his artistic career and his role in advancing Qatari theatre on the global stage.
The festival’s closing ceremony featured a special performance of al-Mansouri’s play, *The Sultan*, which drew significant attention from attendees and received strong engagement from theatre and cultural enthusiasts. The cast and crew of the play were awarded the festival’s shield and a certificate of appreciation, highlighting the production’s artistic merit and its role in enriching the broader theatre movement.
Al-Mansouri expressed pride in receiving the honour and emphasized that it reflected a broader recognition of Qatar’s theatrical community. He described the award as a tribute not only to his own work but also to the contributions of all Qatari artists involved in developing the nation’s theatrical landscape. He added that the international accolade serves as motivation to continue producing work that highlights Qatar’s creative talents and cultural heritage.

*The Sultan* stars Mohammed Hassan al-Mohammadi, Sameh al-Hajari, Ali al-Sharshani, and Maryam Fahd. Ali al-Sharshani also took on the role of assistant director, while Sameh Hassan served as production manager. The recognition at the festival underscores the continued expansion and international recognition of Qatar’s performing arts scene.
