The Qatar Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the Saudi Arabia Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, in partnership with Qatar Development Bank (QDB), recently hosted a webinar titled "Empowering SMEs to Adapt to Regional Changes," focused on bolstering the resilience of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) amid shifting regional and global landscapes.

The online event addressed the impacts of rapid regional developments on supply chains, trade, and financial flows, emphasizing the importance of SMEs’ readiness to navigate disruptions. The discussions centered on national policies and measures that support business continuity, regional cooperation efforts to enhance corporate resilience, and the role of emerging technological solutions in supporting SMEs’ adaptability.

Participants explored various technologies, including digital payments, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and smart logistics, as critical tools for strengthening SMEs' operational readiness. The webinar also aimed to facilitate the exchange of best practices and practical experiences to help SMEs better anticipate and respond to crises and evolving market conditions.

Dr Abdulaziz Khalid al-Ali, Managing Director of the Qatar Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, highlighted the significance of the collaboration between the Qatari and Saudi centres and QDB in organizing the workshop. He noted that SMEs form a vital part of the economic framework and that coordinated efforts, knowledge sharing, and the adoption of innovative technologies and practices are essential to enhancing their ability to adjust to regional shifts.

The forum underscored the need for continued cooperation among government agencies, the private sector, and experts to address the challenges SMEs face in an increasingly complex environment. It provided a platform for dialogue aimed at identifying policies and solutions that can promote business continuity and operational resilience across the region.

This initiative is part of the broader strategy by the organizers to foster regional cooperation and knowledge exchange focused on improving the sustainability and competitiveness of SMEs, which are considered key drivers of economic growth and innovation. The webinar reflected a shared recognition of the evolving challenges SMEs encounter and the collective role of governments and institutions in supporting their adaptation to changing circumstances.
