Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, Qatar’s Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), held a meeting with General Hubert Bonneau, director-general of the French National Gendarmerie, during his visit to France on September 1, 2026. The discussions focused on strengthening and expanding security cooperation between the two countries.

Officials outlined plans to enhance collaboration through sharing expertise, conducting joint security training programs, and improving coordination mechanisms. The meeting underscored the longstanding partnership between Lekhwiya and the French National Gendarmerie, which has been in place for over two decades.

Both parties emphasized the importance of sustaining and developing this bilateral relationship to address evolving security challenges. This engagement reflects ongoing efforts by Qatar and France to fortify ties in law enforcement and internal security, supporting regional and international stability.
