Qatar has reaffirmed its dedication to empowering young people as a central element of its national development strategy, according to a recent editorial by the Qatari newspaper Arrayah. The publication emphasized the government’s early recognition of youth as a strategic asset and highlighted the comprehensive policies implemented to equip them with the skills and knowledge needed to adapt to global changes and drive sustainable progress.
The editorial, titled “Youth: The Cornerstone of Qatar’s Development,” outlined the state’s integrated framework for supporting young Qataris, which includes substantial investment in education and training. It pointed to expanded opportunities in innovation, entrepreneurship, and increased participation in the economic, social, cultural, and sporting sectors. The piece also noted that efforts have been made to enable young people to take on leadership roles and engage in decision-making processes at various levels.
Arrayah detailed the establishment of multiple general and specialized youth centers across the country. These centers offer programs designed to nurture talent, develop skills, and foster a culture of initiative and volunteerism. The goal is to strengthen the role of youth as active partners in national development and key drivers of Qatar’s future growth.
The editorial highlighted the Qatar National Youth Policy as a manifestation of this strategic approach, aiming to meet the aspirations of younger generations and empower them to contribute effectively to innovation, entrepreneurship, and community development. This policy aligns with broader national frameworks, including the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy (2024-2030), both of which prioritize human capital development to support sustainable economic and social advancement.
The commentary coincided with the annual observance of World Population Day on July 11, which this year focused on “Realising the hopes and aspirations of young people – today and for the future.” The editorial noted that Qatar’s participation in this global event underscores its commitment to creating an enabling environment where young people’s ambitions can be realized, reinforcing their role in building a cohesive society and a vibrant economy.
Furthermore, the newspaper concluded by reaffirming Qatar’s commitment to advancing population policies that support families, improve quality of life, and broaden opportunities for youth. These efforts are seen as fundamental in fostering a more prosperous and sustainable future for the country.
