Qatar Charity has allocated an initial $1 million to provide emergency assistance to Yemeni refugees who have fled escalating violence in Yemen. The aid targets refugees who have sought shelter in Djibouti, following intensified hostilities along Yemen’s western coast.

According to the International Organisation for Migration, the recent conflict has displaced over 85,000 people within Yemen, with more than 2,000—primarily women and children—crossing into Djibouti to escape the fighting. These refugees undertook hazardous journeys to reach safety along Djibouti’s northern coastline.

The funding package from Qatar Charity is designed to address urgent basic needs for the affected families, including emergency shelter, essential non-food items, and food assistance comprising hot meals and ready-to-eat rations. Additional support includes provision of safe drinking water, primary healthcare services, and interventions aimed at improving water, sanitation, and hygiene. Nutritional support will also be offered, particularly for mothers and children.

Qatar Charity emphasized that the initiative aims to bolster the capacity of host communities in Djibouti, which are increasingly strained by the influx of refugees. The organization is coordinating with local authorities and humanitarian partners to ensure aid is delivered promptly to the most vulnerable populations.
