Qatar Charity (QC) is supporting a rehabilitation project for children in Gaza who have suffered amputations, providing them with prosthetic limbs and comprehensive care in Jordan. The initiative, carried out by the Restoring Hope Society (RHS), aims to help young amputees regain mobility and rebuild their lives following conflict-related injuries.

Currently active in Jordan, the project offers an integrated treatment program that includes medical care, physiotherapy, psychosocial support, and prosthetic limb fitting. The combined services are designed to enhance the children’s independence and facilitate their reintegration into family and community life with dignity and confidence.

Engineer Darrar Maaytah, director of QC’s office in Jordan, emphasized that the program reflects Qatar Charity’s ongoing commitment to supporting Palestinians affected by the humanitarian situation in Gaza. He highlighted that the initiative extends beyond addressing immediate medical needs by fostering self-confidence and promoting a more stable future for injured children and their families.

Bilal Al Abbasi, director general of the Restoring Hope Society, described the project as part of a broader response to aid individuals disabled by the war, many of whom have lost access to mobility and rehabilitation services. He noted that implementing the program in Jordan allows for the provision of prosthetic limbs and continuous follow-up care, complementing RHS’s operations inside Gaza and ensuring sustained support for beneficiaries upon their return.

The Restoring Hope Society characterized the initiative as a humanitarian effort encompassing much more than medical intervention. The program aims to restore mobility, rebuild confidence, increase a sense of security, and enable affected children to continue their education and daily activities with enhanced opportunities.

This project builds on Qatar Charity’s broader efforts in Jordan since 2021, in cooperation with the Jordanian government and civil society partners. These efforts have included social welfare programs, sponsorship initiatives for orphans and low-income families, emergency responses to humanitarian crises, economic empowerment projects, and other development activities.

Through collaboration with its partners, Qatar Charity continues to back initiatives that prioritize affected individuals, especially children, by providing sustainable solutions that help them overcome the consequences of crises and reclaim a dignified, hopeful life.
