Qatar Charity (QC) has intensified its efforts to address global food insecurity through various food assistance projects implemented in Sudan, Syria, and Nepal during 2026. These initiatives target displaced populations, low-income families, and communities affected by natural disasters, seeking to provide essential nutrition amid ongoing crises.

In Sudan, the organization has responded to escalating conflict and severe weather events that have displaced thousands and disrupted livelihoods. In North Kordofan, Qatar Charity distributed 3,600 food baskets to nearly 21,000 displaced individuals who fled to El Obeid due to renewed fighting. The aid also extended to families impacted by flooding, heavy rains, and a destructive storm in the Al-Ghabsha area of Um Rawaba locality, which resulted in widespread displacement and damage to homes. Earlier in the year, the charity provided food assistance to 15,708 recipients across four states—Red Sea, Kassala, River Nile, and Northern State—focusing on orphans’ families, displaced groups, and those with limited financial means.

In Syria, QC collaborated with the Molham Volunteering Team to distribute more than 1,200 food baskets containing a total of approximately 84.6 tonnes of food in Deir ez-Zor Governorate. This intervention reached over 6,000 beneficiaries in an area still grappling with the effects of prolonged conflict and displacement. Additionally, Qatar Charity launched a winter program in January 2026 across several Syrian governorates, providing 6,800 food baskets. Each package weighed 64 kilograms and was designed to sustain a family’s nutritional needs for one month.

In Nepal, Qatar Charity addressed the impact of flash floods along the Trishuli River corridor, which damaged infrastructure, homes, and agricultural livelihoods while complicating relief efforts. The response involved distributing 30 tonnes of critical food supplies, including staple ingredients and ready-to-eat products, to 1,240 families, benefiting approximately 5,419 individuals.

These humanitarian efforts align with the broader global focus on food security underscored every year on October 16, World Food Day, which in 2026 emphasized the theme "Innovating Today for Tomorrow’s Food." Qatar Charity’s actions exemplify ongoing attempts to uphold the right to adequate, safe, and nutritious food for vulnerable populations worldwide amid persistent challenges including conflict, displacement, and natural disasters.
