Qatar Chamber and the Portuguese Industrial Association – Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AIP–CCI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance bilateral economic and trade relations. The agreement, formalized through a virtual signing ceremony, is designed to promote business development, facilitate investment, and support the establishment of company branches in both Qatar and Portugal.
The MoU was signed by Qatar Chamber Acting General Manager Ali Bu Sherbak Al Mansor and Filomena Pina Perez, director of the Portuguese Industrial Association. It aims to strengthen cooperation between the two organizations by encouraging market research, consultancy services, knowledge sharing, and the promotion of trade delegations. The agreement also focuses on fostering partnerships and joint ventures in sectors of mutual interest amid evolving international economic conditions.
Al Mansor described the MoU as a significant step toward deepening the existing ties between Qatar and Portugal, emphasizing the potential for expanding private sector collaboration. He highlighted that the framework established by the agreement will facilitate communication and information exchange between Qatari and Portuguese businesses, streamline the organization of business meetings and trade missions, and explore various investment opportunities.
He also expressed optimism that enhanced cooperation under the MoU would contribute to increased bilateral trade, mutual investments, and the creation of joint ventures, supporting growth in key sectors shared by both countries.
On behalf of the Portuguese association, Filomena Pina Perez stressed that the agreement is expected to bolster business community ties, stimulate reciprocal investment, and encourage the exchange of trade delegations. She noted the intention to organize visits by Qatari business delegations to Portugal, with a focus on exploring industrial sector opportunities. Perez also highlighted Portugal’s interest in gaining a deeper understanding of investment prospects available in Qatar.
The initiative signals a mutual commitment to leveraging international economic opportunities through closer collaboration, trade facilitation, and knowledge exchange between Qatar and Portugal.
