Qatar Development Bank (QDB) has received seven accolades from Global Finance magazine as part of the 2026 World’s Best Digital Bank Awards, underscoring its prominence in digital banking and its role in advancing Qatar’s economic development through technological innovation.
Announced on August 12, the awards recognized QDB for its achievements within Qatar and across the Middle East region. Regionally, the bank secured the "Best in Transformation" and "Best Information Security and Fraud Management" honors for the Middle East. At the national level, QDB was named the "Best Corporate Digital Bank" in Qatar, along with four additional sub-category awards: "Best SME Banking Platform," "Best Integrated Corporate Banking Program," "Best in Transformation," and "Best Information Security and Fraud Management."
Now in their 27th edition, the World’s Best Digital Bank Awards evaluate financial institutions on their digital strategies, customer engagement, product offerings, and the user experience of their digital platforms. The selection process considers multiple factors, including the impact of digital initiatives, adoption rates, and security measures.
Abdulrahman bin Hesham Al-Sowaidi, QDB’s Chief Executive Officer, described the awards as an international validation of the bank’s commitment to developing world-class digital services tailored to the needs of Qatari companies. He emphasized the bank’s ongoing dedication to innovation and digital transformation, highlighting efforts to implement advanced technologies that enhance efficiency, security, and transparency. According to Al-Sowaidi, these initiatives aim to bolster the productivity and resilience of private-sector enterprises and improve their competitiveness regionally and globally.
QDB’s digital progression has been propelled by several key initiatives, including the recent launch of the Reyada Portal. This platform serves as a unified digital hub for enterprise development, training, and advisory services. The bank also rolled out the National Funding Gate (TAMKEEN) last year, the country’s first integrated digital platform for business financing.
The multiple awards reflect QDB’s strategy to foster innovation and support Qatar’s private sector through a comprehensive digital ecosystem that combines cutting-edge technology with robust infrastructure. The bank’s efforts align with Qatar National Vision 2030, which focuses on building a sustainable, knowledge-based, and innovation-driven economy. QDB’s recognition as a leader in digital banking highlights its role as a key developmental financial institution in the region.
