Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) and AlRayan Bank have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at improving banking access for companies operating within the QFC platform and promoting the development of Islamic finance and capital markets in Qatar. The two entities formalized their collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed this week in Doha.

Under the terms of the agreement, QFC will designate AlRayan Bank as a preferred banking partner and will actively refer newly licensed firms to the bank for corporate account openings. AlRayan Bank will tailor banking products and services to meet the specific needs of QFC-registered businesses and their employees, including immediate banking solutions for staff relocating to Qatar.

Both parties plan to explore integration between their digital platforms with an aim to streamline the account opening process, enhancing convenience and operational efficiency for clients. The MoU also establishes a framework for joint efforts in combating financial crimes such as money laundering, terrorist financing, and fraud. This includes exchanging best practices and aligning more closely with international regulatory standards.

The collaboration will extend to improving data flow and standardizing processes, particularly around onboarding new clients at the QFC. Together, QFC and AlRayan intend to enhance access to a wide range of banking and investment products offered by AlRayan Bank and its subsidiary, AlRayan Investment. Exclusive banking offerings and privileges for QFC firms and their employees are also planned as part of the partnership.

Mansoor Rashid Al Khater, Chief Executive Officer of QFC, emphasized that the agreement reinforces the center’s commitment to creating a conducive business environment by expanding access to financial services and fostering innovation within Islamic finance and capital markets. He noted that the partnership would add value to QFC firms and support the growth of Qatar’s financial ecosystem.

Fahad bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Group Chief Executive Officer of AlRayan Bank, highlighted the bank’s dedication to providing digitally advanced banking solutions tailored for businesses in Qatar. He indicated that the collaboration would simplify account opening procedures for QFC-licensed entities, improve efficiency, and expedite access to banking services, in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Both QFC and AlRayan Bank are integral to Qatar’s efforts to bolster business development and economic growth. This MoU marks a step forward in their joint mission to deliver enhanced financial support, deepen cooperation in Islamic finance, and facilitate knowledge sharing to benefit the local business community.
