The Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) concluded its participation in the ninth World Investment Forum (WIF 2026), held in Doha from October 25 to 27. The forum, themed “Investing in the Future,” focused on advancing the global development finance agenda by mobilizing investment and enhancing international cooperation to support sustainable development.
During the event, QFFD co-hosted a high-level ministerial roundtable titled “Partnerships, Investment and Trade: Advancing Sustainable Development and Prosperity in Least Developed Countries (LDCs).” This session was organized in collaboration with the Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar in Geneva, the World Trade Organization’s Enhanced Integrated Framework, the United Nations Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (UN-OHRLLS), and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
The roundtable gathered government officials and development partners to discuss ways to better align investment, trade, and development finance to support economic transformation in LDCs. Key topics included mobilizing capital, increasing access to development finance, enhancing productive capacities, and fostering partnerships to drive sustainable economic growth.
Participants also highlighted the urgency of accelerating the implementation of the Doha Programme of Action for LDCs ahead of its Midterm Review, which is scheduled to take place in Doha from March 25 to 27, 2027.
In addition to the roundtable discussions, QFFD took an active role throughout the forum, engaging in various dialogues centered on development finance, investment, and international cooperation. The fund’s involvement underscored Qatar’s ongoing commitment to international development efforts, particularly in advancing innovative financing mechanisms and strategic partnerships aimed at mobilizing resources, strengthening economic resilience, and achieving sustainable development goals.
