Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB), in partnership with Qatar Cancer Society (QCS), organised a breast cancer awareness workshop for its female employees at its headquarters as part of its Pink October activities. The event was held to emphasize the importance of early detection and regular screening in breast cancer prevention.
The workshop, which formed a key element of QIB’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme, aimed to provide participants with comprehensive information on breast cancer awareness and encourage proactive health measures. Alongside the educational session, the bank launched a series of awareness initiatives throughout October to engage staff and reinforce the message of breast cancer prevention.
As part of the month-long campaign, QIB adorned its headquarters, QIB Towers, with pink floral displays. The bank also distributed pink ribbons, bracelets, stress balls, and specially designed pink cups branded with breast cancer awareness messages at its offices and branches. These efforts were intended to integrate awareness messages into employees’ daily routines and promote solidarity around the cause.
Extending beyond internal activities, QIB placed breast cancer awareness visuals, developed in collaboration with Qatar Cancer Society, on selected automated teller machines (ATMs) at branches dedicated to female clients. The bank further amplified its outreach through a series of informative posts on its social media channels throughout October, aiming to reach a broader audience and underscore the significance of regular health check-ups.
Mashael Abdulaziz al-Derham, assistant general manager and head of Corporate Communications and Quality Assurance at QIB, highlighted the bank’s ongoing commitment to public health. She stated that raising awareness and encouraging preventive health practices are essential for fostering healthier communities. Abdulaziz al-Derham added that the collaboration with Qatar Cancer Society not only allowed for direct engagement with employees but also underlined the critical role of early detection in breast cancer outcomes.
QIB’s activities during Pink October align with its broader commitment to corporate social responsibility, focusing on health awareness and community well-being. Through sustained partnerships and employee engagement, the bank seeks to support national efforts aimed at promoting public health and establishing a culture of prevention and early diagnosis.
