Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) marked International Plastic Bag Free Day by launching an internal campaign to promote sustainable practices among its employees. The initiative involved distributing reusable tote bags across its offices, encouraging staff to reduce dependence on single-use plastic bags and adopt more environmentally conscious habits.

This effort aligns with QIB’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability strategy, which focuses on creating positive social, environmental, and economic outcomes. The campaign underscores the bank’s commitment to environmental stewardship through practical actions aimed at minimizing plastic waste.

Mashaal Abdulaziz Al Derham, Assistant General Manager and Head of Corporate Communications & Quality Assurance at QIB, emphasized that sustainability efforts start with individual choices. He stated, “At QIB, we believe that sustainability begins with everyday choices. Through such initiatives, we encourage our employees to adopt practical habits that contribute to protecting the environment while reinforcing our broader commitment to responsible corporate citizenship.” Al Derham added that the bank remains dedicated to supporting initiatives that foster enduring value for employees, communities, and future generations.

QIB’s CSR activities are aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030 and encompass a wide range of focus areas, including environmental sustainability, community engagement, health and wellbeing, financial literacy, education, and social development. The bank continues to incorporate these priorities into its operations to promote long-term societal benefits.
