The Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre (QICDRC) has completed its 2026 training programme focused on international commercial courts, offering a comprehensive educational experience through lectures, panel discussions, and practical workshops. The initiative aimed to familiarize legal professionals with the procedures and practices of both the QICDRC and the Regulatory Tribunal of the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC).
The programme brought together 25 qualified lawyers and legal practitioners, providing them with in-depth insights into pertinent legislation and the procedural rules governing court proceedings and appeals before the court's appellate division. Key topics addressed included the various stages of litigation, such as emergency motions, initiation of proceedings, defences and counterclaims, jurisdictional challenges, case preparation and disclosure, hearings and evidence presentation, judgments, court orders, damages, costs, enforcement, appeals, and the procedural aspects of regulatory tribunal hearings.
Participants also examined both pending and previously adjudicated cases, enhancing their understanding of court procedures, oral argumentation, legal reasoning, and litigation strategies. The sessions further explored ethical and procedural challenges encountered by attorneys practicing before international commercial courts, promoting adherence to best practices.
Faisal bin Rashid al-Sahouti, CEO of QICDRC, emphasized that the training programme highlights the court’s dedication to the professional development of legal practitioners and their ability to navigate established court processes effectively. He noted that such expertise can accelerate litigation timelines, reduce efforts for all parties involved, and significantly improve court efficiency and access to justice.
QICDRC continues to prioritize professional development and knowledge-sharing activities to bolster legal expertise, encourage international standards, and contribute to the advancement of Qatar’s legal sector.
