Qatar International Islamic Bank (QIIB) posted a net profit of QR1.115 billion for the third quarter of 2026, marking a 1.5 percent increase compared with the same period last year. The bank’s total assets grew by 5 percent to QR63.6 billion as of September 30, while its financing portfolio rose 6.9 percent to QR44.1 billion.

The financial results were disclosed following a meeting of QIIB’s Board of Directors, chaired by Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani. He attributed the bank’s performance to its strategic approach, governance, and risk management practices. Sheikh Dr Khalid emphasized QIIB’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its balance sheet, investing in digital infrastructure, and developing national talent.

Customer deposits increased 2 percent year on year to QR43.2 billion, and total equity climbed 7.9 percent to QR10.64 billion, according to QIIB Chief Executive Officer Dr Abdulbasit Ahmad Al-Shaibei. The bank reported a cost-to-income ratio of 18.7 percent, a non-performing financing ratio of 3 percent, and a coverage ratio of 90.6 percent. Its capital adequacy ratio stood at 22.4 percent, exceeding regulatory requirements set by Qatar Central Bank.

Dr Al-Shaibei highlighted improvements in operational performance and service delivery, noting that the bank’s digital transformation program had shifted more retail and corporate transactions to digital platforms. Sheikh Dr Khalid added that expanding digital channels had enhanced operational efficiency, profitability, and commercial growth by streamlining processes and optimizing costs.

QIIB’s strategic focus remains primarily on the domestic market, with particular attention to corporate banking and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which are seen as critical drivers of economic development. The bank continues to work closely with key sectors of Qatar’s economy to finance viable projects with significant impact.

In 2026, QIIB garnered several international awards recognizing its leadership in Islamic finance, digital banking, and corporate banking services. Accolades included Best Sustainable Islamic Finance Bank, Excellence in Islamic Banking Product Innovation, Best Mobile Banking App Experience, Best Digital Solutions, and Outstanding Corporate Banking Services. Dr Al-Shaibei attributed these honors to the bank’s robust operational infrastructure and market position.

The bank also prioritizes Qatarisation and leadership development as core components of its strategy. These efforts have been acknowledged by national regulatory authorities. In alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030, QIIB continues to support community initiatives across education, sports, healthcare, and culture.

Sheikh Dr Khalid expressed gratitude to the executive management and staff, crediting their efforts with enhancing the bank’s reputation, improving customer experience, and creating sustainable value for shareholders and the broader economy.
