QNB Group, a prominent financial institution operating across the Middle East and Africa, has successfully closed a $2.5 billion senior unsecured term loan facility through a syndicated offering. The loan attracted commitments from 25 international and regional banks, with total demand twice the size of the initial offering.

The syndicate featured significant participation from nine Asian banks, which together contributed $1.25 billion, underscoring the loan’s broad geographic appeal. This strong interest reflects confidence in QNB’s credit profile amid challenging global and regional market conditions.

Abdulla Mubarak Al Khalifa, CEO of QNB Group, emphasized the broad support from lenders in multiple jurisdictions, highlighting the bank's expanding base of international partners. He viewed the oversubscription as an indicator of QNB’s reputation as a reliable borrower and as evidence of its ongoing progress toward becoming a leading banking franchise in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Africa (MEASEA).

Proceeds from the facility are earmarked for general corporate purposes, aligning with QNB’s strategic growth plans.

The syndicated loan was arranged and managed by a consortium of established financial institutions. DBS, HSBC, ICBC, Mizuho, and Standard Chartered served as the initial mandated lead arrangers and bookrunners. In addition, DBS and HSBC acted as syndication coordinators, Standard Chartered handled documentation coordination, and Mizuho took on the role of facility agent.

This transaction reinforces QNB’s status as a major borrower in regional and international debt markets, reflecting its strong credit standing and the continuing appetite of global lenders for exposure to Middle Eastern banking entities.
