The Qatar Social and Cultural Center for the Blind (QSCCB) is conducting an awareness campaign from October 8 to 18, 2026, in recognition of World Sight Day and International White Cane Safety Day. The initiative aims to foster societal inclusivity by highlighting the value of diversity and the importance of increased awareness around visual impairment.
Organized in partnership with various educational, youth, and cultural organizations, the campaign features a range of activities designed to engage school students, government employees, and youth group members. These activities include online contests, meetings, exhibitions, and workshops focused on educating participants about the experiences of people with visual impairments.
A central message of the campaign emphasizes the significance of the white cane as a tool for promoting independence and mobility among individuals who are blind. The program also seeks to dispel misconceptions related to visual impairment and promote respectful and effective communication strategies.
Among the scheduled events are awareness workshops at Rabaa Al Adawiya Secondary School for Girls and Nasser bin Abdullah Al Attiyah Secondary School for Boys, held in collaboration with Barzan Youth Center. Additional workshops are planned for employees of Al Daayen Municipality, alongside meetings targeting members of the Doha Youth Center, hosted at QSCCB’s headquarters.
In conjunction with these activities, QSCCB is participating in related events at the National Museum of Qatar, where it is showcasing its programs and cultural initiatives. The center’s involvement there highlights its commitment to raising awareness regarding the rights of individuals with visual impairments and promoting their inclusion and active participation in society.
