Qatar University (QU) has announced updated minimum admission requirements for its undergraduate programs, effective from the Fall 2027 semester. The university has set the general minimum high school average at 75% for most colleges, while maintaining higher thresholds for several health-related faculties.
Specifically, the College of Medicine and the College of Dental Medicine will require a minimum high school average of 90%, and the College of Pharmacy will require an 80% minimum average. These requirements reflect the university’s differentiated standards according to the academic demands of each college.
QU underscored that meeting the stated minimum averages does not guarantee admission. Applicants must also fulfill additional criteria, including any standardized tests mandated by their chosen colleges. The announcement stressed that these changes will not impact students applying prior to the Fall 2027 intake.
This update forms part of Qatar University’s regular policy review intended to align admission procedures with its academic goals and educational mission. By announcing the new thresholds more than a year in advance, the university aims to give prospective students and their families sufficient time to understand and prepare for the forthcoming admission standards.
University officials also reiterated their commitment to providing ongoing guidance and information through official channels to assist applicants throughout the admission process. The early communication is designed to enhance transparency and facilitate early academic planning for high school students aspiring to enroll at QU.
The new admission requirements will apply to students registering for programs beginning in August 2027, marking a step in QU’s ongoing efforts to refine its approach to student recruitment and academic quality standards.
