Almayasa Al Anzi, a nursing student at Qatar University’s College of Nursing, exemplifies the growing involvement of Qatari youth in bolstering the country’s healthcare workforce. Driven by compassion, national pride, and a dedication to patient care, Al Anzi has embraced nursing as a professional path aimed at serving her community with both cultural sensitivity and clinical competence.
During her studies, she has benefited from hands-on experiences in the university’s simulation labs, where students practice medical scenarios on mannequins. These sessions have not only sharpened her practical skills but have also fostered a collaborative environment among future nurses. “One of my favourite experiences is learning in the simulation labs, where we practise on mannequins as if they were real patients,” Al Anzi noted, emphasizing the value of engaging and meaningful training.
Family support has played a critical role in her academic journey, with her father’s encouragement being a key motivator. “My father dreams of seeing me become the best nurse I can be,” she said. “His confidence in me motivates me to work harder and exceed expectations.”
Al Anzi’s aspirations are aligned with Qatar University’s broader mission to prepare graduates who contribute effectively to national development and meet evolving societal needs. QU’s strategic priorities focus on learning and human development, social and economic progress, and equipping students for meaningful roles in the labor market.
Beyond her personal ambitions, Al Anzi hopes to inspire more Qatari youth to consider nursing a respected and impactful profession. “Being Qatari and studying nursing is a source of pride,” she said, expressing her desire to represent Qatar through healthcare delivery both domestically and internationally.
Drawing inspiration from prominent Qatari figures such as Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser and Her Excellency Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, Al Anzi views herself as part of a generation of women contributing to education, healthcare, and community development in Qatar.
Her story underscores the role of healthcare education in advancing Qatar National Vision 2030, particularly its Human Development and Social Development goals. Through initiatives such as those led by Qatar University and the dedication of students like Almayasa Al Anzi, the country continues to strengthen its health sector and invest in the cultivation of skilled professionals for the future.
