Around half a dozen riders gathered near the corner of 69th Street and Eliot Avenue, where they were seen revving engines, burning rubber, and producing large clouds of smoke at a local Mobil gas station.

The disturbances unfolded as passing motorists and a city bus navigated through the area, with footage of the event shared publicly by City Councilman Phil Wong on the social media platform X. Wong confirmed his office contacted the 104th Precinct in response to the incident, describing the behavior as “street takeover nonsense.”

This occurrence follows a major street takeover on April 18 at the same intersection, when more than 100 vehicles — predominantly cars — blocked the roads late at night, engaging in reckless driving maneuvers. That earlier event prompted concerns from local authorities and residents about recurring reckless driving and its impact on community safety.

The recent episode highlights ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in curbing illegal street gatherings and ensuring safe passage for commuters in Queens neighborhoods.
