Qurayat and Masirah recorded significant victories in the second round of the second stage of the 2026-27 Women’s Futsal League on October 20 in Muscat, contributing to a dynamic contest phase featuring a combined total of 14 goals.
Qurayat, returning to action after missing the opening round of the decisive stage, secured a 4-1 win against Al Bashayer. The victory marked an impactful debut for Qurayat in this phase, earning three points and disrupting Al Bashayer’s initial momentum. Al Bashayer had entered the match buoyed by a strong offensive showing in the first round, having netted nine goals against Al Shabab. However, Qurayat’s controlled performance subdued their opponent and positioned them among four clubs tied on three points. Al Bashayer, meanwhile, suffered their first defeat of the second stage.
In the other fixture of the round, Masirah rebounded from an opening-round loss to Al Amerat by overwhelming Al Shabab with an 8-1 victory. This emphatic win awarded Masirah their first three points of the second stage and enhanced their standing in what remains a highly competitive campaign. Conversely, Al Shabab has now lost both of their fixtures, conceding 17 goals while scoring only once, highlighting defensive vulnerabilities that will require attention moving forward.
Following these matches, four teams—Qurayat, Masirah, Al Amerat, and Al Bashayer—are locked on three points each. Qurayat and Al Amerat have played one match so far in this phase, whereas Masirah and Al Bashayer have completed two. Al Amerat, who did not play in the latest round, remains among the contenders in the tightly packed table.
The second stage is organized in a double round-robin format, with each of the five qualifying clubs scheduled to face the others twice. The team accumulating the highest points total at the conclusion will be declared league champions. With the competition still early, the closely matched standings suggest coming rounds will be pivotal in clarifying the leading challengers. Final placements may also hinge on the league’s tie-breaking rules if teams remain level on points.
As four teams strive to consolidate their early success, Al Shabab will be aiming to register their first points and address defensive issues as the tournament advances.
