At Sha Tin Racecourse on October 11, Shinyu Kokoroe secured a maiden victory in the Hung Shui Kiu Handicap, a class 5 contest over 1,200 meters on dirt. Ridden by K. Teetan and trained by B. Crawford, Shinyu Kokoroe broke through after 13 previous attempts locally, displaying a strong finish by exploiting a gap on the inside with 250 meters remaining and asserting control to win by six lengths. The horse was competing on a low career rating following a seasonal return.
Conrad The Great claimed second place under jockey L. Hewitson after a midrace positioning, benefiting from a favorable return to the racing surface and distance, matching his previous performances that included two runner-up finishes last season. Wave Garden, the favorite, made progress with a late inside track run, securing third in a well-managed race despite carrying additional weight after a prior win. Daily Trophy finished a close fourth after covering extra ground from a wide draw.
The total betting turnover for the first race reached HK$23.28 million, with substantial wagering on the winning combination of numbers 8 and 9.
In the Kam Tin Handicap over 1,000 meters on turf, Sunny Q recorded a second career victory under jockey C. L. Chau. Positioned just behind the main pack for much of the race, Sunny Q was momentarily held up before launching a decisive final surge in the last 60 meters to win by four lengths. This victory came in the horse’s 21st start and was achieved for trainer W. Y. So and owner Matthew Wong Leung-pak.
Von Baer finished second, closing strongly with a much-improved performance in his second consecutive 1,000-meter run. Autumn Vibes maintained a consistent form, taking third after racing prominently from a wide berth. The horse has yet to break through for a win despite regular competitive runs. Dish completed the placings in fourth, demonstrating a promising effort on his first race over the straight 1,000 meters despite a less advantageous gate.
Overall betting turnover for the Kam Tin Handicap reached over HK$25 million, with heavy investment in combinations involving the runners from gates 13 and 5.
Both races featured competitive fields and generated significant betting interest, underscoring the depth of talent and racing enthusiasm present at Sha Tin.
