Flash Prince, a seven-year-old gelding by Xtravagent out of Gentle, continued his recent form with a victory at Inverell on July 18. Ridden by S. Cummins, Flash Prince overcame a mid-race position to win the Benchmark 50 event over 1600 meters, finishing ahead of Playful Puzzle and Dolly Disco. The horse settled in sixth place early, moving up steadily to secure the win by a half neck, clocking a time of 1:36.48 on a Good (4) track.

This win followed a fourth-place finish at Tamworth on July 12 in a Benchmark 66 race over 1610 meters, where Flash Prince was ridden by N. Masuda and raced mid-pack before finishing behind He’s A Copy Boy.

Since then, Flash Prince has been freshened and is set to compete at Coffs Harbour, facing a more demanding race. While he draws a challenging barrier, he arrives in winning form and carrying a relatively light weight, factors that may aid his performance in the upcoming event.

Over his career, Flash Prince has run 46 races with two wins, four second-place finishes, and four thirds. His victories span distances from 1600 to 2150 meters. Despite no prior wins on his current track and mixed results on various track conditions, his recent performances suggest he is competitive at this level. His record includes limited success on different tracks and distances, with an overall win percentage of 8.7 percent and a place percentage of 26.1 percent.

Trainer P’Money places confidence in Flash Prince’s form heading into the new challenge, noting the horse’s ability to race just off the pace and strong finishing runs. However, the competition at Coffs Harbour is considered stiffer, and the horse’s performance will be closely watched to assess his ability to handle the step up in grade.
